Memories
of days long past,
of times never forgotten
Laughter and tears
Joy and pain
happiness as well as desolation
A joyful smile
a teasing grin
in a moment it all comes back again
Those special moments
spent with a friend
along with a wish
that they would never end
That is what memories are for
a gift of joy forevermore
to relive the times
and remember the lives
of those long since ceased
Farewell
Long ago
came the sun's first dawning
Though there were few there to see.
But as the sun rose
it again did fall
settling among the mountains
I too at this time must leave
but will return as the sun's next dawning
Farewell my friends.
The Dream
I saw you fall
before me in the snow
I offered my hand
but you said no
You got up without my help
and walked on through the storm
but the wind beat at our backs
and I saw you fall once more.
Again I turned to help
and again you refused
so I watched as you tripped about
for there was nothing I could do.
So we went on
the storm growing worse
and as we moved along
I saw your strength disperse
I saw you fall again
but not as before
you lay there alone
unable to rise from the snow
I looked on you
and a war raged within me
what could I do
you had already twice rejected me.
The I looked again
and knew I could not leave you
I would remain
if once again your pride held true
So I knelt beside you
and took your hand in mine
at first I was surprised to see you smile at me then I smiled too
and looking at the brightening sky I said "here comes the dawn."
The Shadow
I must hide in the shadows
untouched by light.
Wishing you could know
but again you just might
I try to reach out,
then have to draw back again.
I can only look about
and wonder if this will end
You are so close,
but I can't touch you,
for I am afraid
I will hurt you.
So I won't,
I couldn't do that.
I wish I could help you-
I wish I could tell you-
Oh but I can't
for I am banished from this place
and I can never escape this anguish.
Please forgive me dear friend
for within the shadows
is my end.
Remembering
So much has happened
Since this day last came
I almost can't believe
how much everything has changed.
It seems so long ago
since last this verse I heard sing
How can I ever know
what another year will bring.
Will I still be who I am?
Will I remember who I was?
Will I receive that which I hope for?
Will I keep that which I don't want to lose?
Right now I can only wait and see
hoping that I may remain strong
So that finally in the end I'll become
who I wish to be.
Have you ever whatched a sunset?
Have you ever watched a sunset
with colors shining bright?
Have you ever felt at peace
as you watch the fading light?
Have you ever hear a bird's song
and wondered what it said?
Have you ever watched a flowing stream
pressing forward through the hedge?
Have you ever stoped to listen
or observe a wonderous sight?
Or did you have more important
things on your mind?
Then maybe you should stop,
just to listen feel and see,
and decide on a reason
your thankful this day came to be.
Regret
Words never spoken.
Letters never sent.
Hearts remaining broken.
Little help is good intent.
Maybe a life lost,
because of lack of words.
Maybe a heart lost.
because it thought it could not be heard.
Why do we wait
untill it's too late?
And with time we let
enter our hearts regret?
Maybe it wont make a difference,
but what can it hurt?
To reach out to another
with a kind word?
