The Deadened Branch
The autumnal season has arrived
And with it comes the cold.
And as I look around myself
The trees have all gone bare.
Their leaves have fallen on the ground
For all the world to see,
Except for one which still lives on
On a deadened branch above.
It stands alone within the wind,
Its friends have all forgotten
The purpose which they all had served
Upon that deadened branch.
I hate to leave it hanging there
Without a friend in reach,
But winter is yet far away--
Time enough to fall.
Three months later I had returned
With winter full upon;
I ventured through those dark cold woods
Where I had once before
Viewed that leaf upon that branch
During that autumn month.
But all that time it still had hung
Upon that deadened branch.
So then I went till spring arrived,
The trees were all abloom;
And to that tree with the deadened branch
I came and sat and viewed.
The leaf had fallen from above
To lay by all his friends
And new leaves now all grew upon
That deadened branch above.

In the Dark
Time and time again I try;
Always in failure does it end,
And even then I'm in the dark
For know not why she does defend.
Through friends I try to find the reason
For why I am so disliked,
But this also does not end well
And I wish more that I was dead.
I'm too shy to talk with her;
I thought her much the same,
But I was wrong and again I pay
And I go back from whence I came.

From Upward Gray Within the gloom there comes a splash
Upon the wet and muddied ground;
The trees hold fast against the wind,
With icy touches does it chill.
A drop falls down from upward gray
And soon connects with water held
Within a crevace dark and drear
'Til sun comes o'er the distant hill.
The first but leads all of the rest;
Their destinations are the same.
To the earth in great flocks falling
Do the droplets come today.
At first slow and then fast flying,
The droplets fall withour much care.
They lie there stagnent in one heap,
Thrown about by wind and weather.
Then suddenly the storm blows o'er
And sadnesss, darkness, turns to light.
The muddied puddles slowly dry,
The cracked earth does softly heal.
The droplet rolls again until,
Down surface soft and sullen smooth,
It reaches bottom, dropping off.
The teary substance slows and stops.

The Ice Recedes
Depressed are the days on this great earth;
The trees turn brown and wilt.
Winter comes with its icy chills,
And all sleep under this one quilt.
The birds fly south to flee the frost;
People run for warmer weather.
But I do neither for I cannot
And may only wait for the heather.
But with your coming the ice recedes
And with it goes my heart;
For in your presence I find it hard
To hold that depressed thought.
Nature rejoices in your coming
As so do I today.
Your exquisite beauty mesmorizes
And it flows from you in waves. r

At Night
When I feel lon'ly on some night
The sky serves a reminder;
I'm not the only one without
A companion by my side.
The moon, some say, looks happy and bright
Glowing in the distant dark.
But the smile painted on its faint face
Is made from pain, not love.
The darkness trys to hide its hurt
Much like it does for me.
And once a month it fully does;
The pain is gone tonight.
Much like the moon I can at night
Hide within her shad'wy cloak;
The moon still does one thing I can't;
It hides throughout the day...

The River
The water flows cold and hard
As the sun rises in the east;
It's rays of light bounced off the top
As the trees whisper and weep.
The river flows as soft as silk
As it bends and turns its way
Through the ground and round the rocks
On its way to the sea.
But then it comes to rapids rough
As the water sloshes around;
It's persistence though carries it through
And soon they are left behind.
And soon it reaches its destination
And the sea greets it with delight;
The river has come to its conclusion
But the sea has just begun.

The Starry Sign
Upon the fields beyond the seas,
The sun high in the sky,
There stood a castle atop a field
Beside a forest green.
The banners waved a yellow bright
Upon the battlements;
The drawbridge fell when she arrived--
Girl of highest stature.
Her arrival was of no surprise;
To meet the prince she came.
Many things she's heard afar
Of this amazing man.
But for the prince he was quite sad;
He loved another far away.
The arranged meeting was absurd
For he would never love her.
That night he wandered far away
Toward the forest green;
Many nights he had gone there
To look upon the moon.
A worry deep within his heart
Would quickly dissapate,
And in the woods he id'ly sits
Upon a tree of green.
Then from the night he heard a sound
And the sky changed to red.
Metal on metal was heard from afar
Along with flying arrows.
He peered from beneath a leafy bush
And saw a sorry sight;
The beautiful castle which had stood last night
Was reduced to burning ashes.
Then from away there came a clanking
And then he saw them coming;
Four horsemen were riding toward the place
Where the lonely prince was hiding.
They fired an arrow full aflame
Through the leafy visage,
And hit a tree and burned full
Which set the woods aflame.
He ran in fright from out the forest
With panic-stricken eyes;
The horsemen stopped and turned and charged,
Their bows at the ready.
The prince ran for what seemed like years
And then began to tire.
He tripped and fell and bumped his head;
The horsemen kept a coming...
A throbbing pain was felt throughout
The body of the prince.
He stood up full in the noon-day sun
And instantly remembered all.
He quickly turned towards the hill
Where the castle used to stand,
And once where yellow banners flew,
Blackened ash was left.
To the forest he then did turn,
Burnt also to the ground.
He walked slow to retrace his steps
From the flaming forest.
He saw the rock which had tripped him
In his hurried flight
From the horsemen which had spared
His life the night before.
That night a group of stars grew brighter
Than any night before--
A starry square with legs of gold
Between scorpion and goat...

And Fell As Blue
The light was bright the whole day through
And all rejoiced in its warm glow;
The grasses waved within the wind
And birds and others whistled free.
The trees wave hi to all that pass
And river flows but still and blue.
The clouds up high cry down to earth,
And flowers view the world around.
And then was seen more black than night
A figure 'lone upon the hill.
A red swirled 'bout the Dark just then
And fell down towards the earth as blue.
The black flung out in hurried waves
And crushed the light in tightening grip;
The black like night pushed down the sun
And quickly covered all like mist.
The Dark now cooled the vale it held
And added strength to Shade about.
The black held still around the vale
And further not did now it move.
But slowly now a crack was seen
Within the black around the Dark.
And noticed now it was the moon
In all its coolness and white face...

The Chaos Rent
A cloud passed through the sky above
And floated o'er a country field;
A beam of light from moon so bright
Shot down into the grasses thick.
The Shade 'low cloud drew softlly near
To scan it for some hidden' clue
Of why now here it lay alone
And signalled all to closer come.
The Dark, a silhouette of night
Behind the Shade drew softly out;
It waited there to note some sign
And reached out for a closer view.
The light blared bright in front of him
And Shade moved in to block its blow.
The Dark swung out to crush the foe
But shade held true and blocked it too.
The sun arose above the hill
To aid the light in battle midst;
The form grew large though moon went down
And laughed at those who still were near.
The Dark again in view of all
Called forth the Shade to it around.
Concealed again it quickly fled
Away from sun and chaos rent.

From Corruption
The woodlands glistened in the air
As happly walked about he did.
The singing of the birds was heard;
The wind whistled about his ears.
And then a patch did catch his eye
And ambled o'er to it he did.
Enraptured in its beauty still
He stood to watch and listen true.
And at his height of ecstasy
A darkened storm began to 'pear.
The trees did grasp and winds did howl
And tried he did to 'scape just then.
He stood outside the forest bright,
And nothing of the darkness stayed.
Inviting was it 'gain too true,
'Pared with rest there was no change.
But hopeful was he who'd been turned
Away from splendor just beheld.
He wandered still about those trees,
The past too fast forgotten now.
And so he entered next quite brave
And too he soon came running out.
Still more and more he found this true,
E'en when he moved to next vale o'er.
The chaos struck out at as he ran
But could not o'ertake him that tired.
His will fast failing did now turn
To other forms besides the flight.
And then the purple blocked the sun;
Its mass swirling in 'bode of black.
It eas'ly caught the ambling form
And stood strong guard behind him now.
And now the chaos hit this wall
And fell down on the spot where hit.
He dropped to ground, now snowy white;
A gleam of black crossed his eyes.
The darkness grew from corruption,
Thus he did not turn back too them.
Its dark form stalks when nights about;
The two took with them one man's hope.

The Dark
The moon and stars repelled the night,
Which settled quickly 'pon the land.
But one place stood out from the rest
'Cause darkness still remained here true.
The dark stood there upon one spot,
And movement from it could be seen;
Yet light was not the moving force
For all the wind had not died down.
A glint of light was quickly seen
But passed as swiftly as had come.
The dark then moved to spot away
>From where it had been standing last.
And then the light forced deep within
And pierced the dark with stunning speed.
A cloak, a glove, a lock of hair
Were all seen for a brief instant.
And then a flash of black struck out
And tried to fend against the light.
Within that time the dark fell back
And breathed a sigh of faint relief.
But nothing could it do for long
For nigh the glint nor black had worked;
The light pressed in to take its life
And Dark tried vainly to fight back...

The Hardened Earth
A tree atop a hill sat still
With skies of blue above.
Some roses ringed its barky stalk
And bloomed full in the air.
Their petals mixed with greens and golds
That fell down from the tree.
The tree itself was not too good
And was in dire need;
Some holes within the leaves had shown
Of what the help should be.
Although this problem was severe
It was not all that was.
The next year it was still the same
Yet still the tree decreased.
Its roof of leaves had fallen off
But still the trunk hung in.
The roses grew and swirled and swayed
About the thickened bark.
The roses could not strangulate
The darkened trunk as is;
Yet slow they went up towards the sky,
Just wrapping 'bout that tree.
The tree but stood above it all
For that was all it could.
Below the hardened earth there lies
A source for all that lives.
And usually it's shared by all,
A balance there should be.
Some smaller roots had choked some more,
Bigger in size they were...

The Vast Expanse
Within the sky a lonely cloud floats
Among the vast expanse.
It floats as free as you or me
Upon a sea of blue.
A bird passes by his misty brethren
That sail among the stars.
It reaches heights that birds imagine,
Almost touching the moon.
But the opposite is most always true
And low down goes it too.
But instead of dieing right there and then
It splits in two and soars!
Together to the sky they fly
Each holding the other up.
Past the moon they'lll fly tonight,
Tomorrow who knows how far.

Taken For Granted
Valentine's Day is a special day,
But so should every other;
For a day is special when only compared
To another kind of like it.
Love should be given more frequently
And not be taken for granted.
One cannot wait for just one day
To make it all worth whille.
Happiness comes from memories
And the more one has the better
To take these away most regu'rly
Is like sleeping without dreams.
So on this day, do hold it more
But be a li'l more wary
For everyday should be considered
A Happy Valentine's Day.

Inspired
Atop a hill in September,
With falling leaves and dead'ning trees,
There was a home of finest cedar
Set by a small, blue pond.
Within the house there was a girl,
Of finest beauty was her nature.
But being 'lone upon that hill
Is not as fun as thought.
Every night, with parents sleeping,
Looking into noiseless night,
The girl would look into the sky
To look upon the stars.
Among the stars there was one brighter
Than any others in the sky;
A beam of light it sent down towards
A near and vacant vale.
The star, she knew, was but a sign,
Of greater things she knew not what.
But curiosity took o'er
And she went on her way.
Guided by moon, parents asleep,
She walked through valley, over hills,
Till clearing came she in the woods,
Brightest star shining down.
A glint within the center sent
A message to her lady's eye;
The middle towards she walked real fast
To find out what it was.
A small box lay there midst the grass;
It sat there sunning top a stump
Among the moonbeams and the stars,
A gift of beauty great.
Opened the silver top she did
And lifted off the top gently;
A glow of brightest light flowed out
Of moonlit gift at night.
The light withdrew and she looked in
To shoes of blue, ribbons atop;
Addressed to her she knew not why,
A note within told all.
"My girl," it said, "I welcome you
To this field here shining tonight.
For years atop the hill you've stayed
And watched you have I done.
Yo meet you is my highest wish
And so I shall quite soon you see.
When sign is high again come back
To this place 'low the star."
She took the shoes, more than a gift,
And happ'ly put them on her feet.
Dancing by moon, gliding through air,
Her heart was full of joy.
Then suddenly the sun was seen
And smoke from yonder house arose.
She took the shoes from off her feet
And joyously ran home.
The next night later, after dusk,
When the first stars are shining high,
The girl stood watch at window dark
For sacred signal bright.
At last it 'peared and fast she made,
The shoes of blue never forgot,
And off she hurried from her home
To clearing first night came.
But as she walked she felt a change
From walk last done the night before;
The star, it seemed, was brighter still
In the dark sky above.
The fall forest had change as well;
Deeper she went and more it changed.
A bit of spring had touched it now
Within winter's iced reach.
Within the vale she stood again,
The moon looking full through the leaves,
Again a box stood on that stump,
The starlight shining down.
Nearing the gift with utmost care,
For it was larger than before.
And lifting off the top gently
She saw the thing inside.
Inside the box something sparkled,
With gems fitted and decor too;
A gown of blue all made in silk
Was brought into the air.
Another note was stationed there
Upon that box of gift giving,
And all it said with brave writing
Was "Next time I will come."
With ecstacy more than last held
She could only put on the dress;
And on each foot a dancing shoe
Was placed with tender care.
With wind soft pushing her hair 'bout
Her outfit was fin'lly complete.
Again like last she danced around
Till sun again emerged.
The third night wond'ring did she wait
Till finally the sign 'rose 'gain.
She quickly dressed herself with gifts
Given from other nights.
She ran off to the vacant vale
Where she had gone first night so as
To check the star which glittered bright
Through window at her home.
The woods now full in bloom were they
And moon but clearly showed this true.
Her beauty travelled round the vale,
Her dress flew fast behind.
She danced until the stump was viewed,
Or rather where it should have been.
For now a tree of new young growth
Was flourishing quite well.
Her hair of brown reflected well
The coming of the starlit bird
Which glided gently round the trees
And perched upon the oak.
It rose up tall and spread is wings
And sang a tune with lyric voice.
And then it turned to fly away
But 'stead changed to a man.
In full white suit was he dressed in;
His hair waved wild within the wind.
He bowed within her fair presence
And softly spoke to her.
"Castor," he said, "is my true name.
To have one dance I've come at last.
Your beauty spreads throughout my realm
And first have I to come."
Amazed she was at this great sight
But not too stunned to dance with him.
The tune recurred and played in air
And danced they did to it.
The time passed buy too quickly though
For then Castor had to take leave.
The moon's faint light was setting down--
The sun's about to 'proach.
A whitened bird again arose
Into the lightened skies above.
A ribbon he then did leave her
Made from his clothing worn.
That night the sky looked extra bright
And soon the girl saw why it was.
A star quite bright had taken place
Beside the first long seen.

Lone It Came
A darkened form does lay there now
Within the night's wind flowing fast.
It waits for what it does not know
But lone it came and thus it stays.
It's cape of black does wave wildly
Within the breeze that blows down cold.
No shadow's seen inside the vale
Although the moon and stars are out.
With blackness flying, probing earth,
He tried to find an answer quick
Of why by will he was brought here
To place so loathed within his mind.
And then a light shone down on him
From place unknown from vale around.
The Dark retreated to his home
And hid within the Shade was there.

Down the Forest's Path
Alone he walked up dirt roads winding
Through forests dense and wild.
The woods called out for a response,
But got nothing in return.
And then the man dashed from the path,
To gain the woods ran he.
But vines as thick as branches came
And dragged him to his knees.
He struggled 'gainst the vines great pull.
But could he not break free!
The vines led him to paths first walked
And suddenly left him be.
He sat dumbfounded on the path
From which he first came down.
And slowly he stood up and ran
Back down the forest's path.

The Asseta Rose
While walking through the woods one day
A man came to a clearing large.
Among the grass that was set there,
Flowers of vast beauty there was.
Set among them there was one
That grew quite tall above the rest.
The man just stared in wild wonder;
The rose just beckoned him to come.
Asseta rose it was by name.
It's petals were of silken red;
It's stem of velvet green is home
To dew that dropped from up above.
His hand reached out to gently pluck
The rose from its own earthy home.
But next he knew but only pain
Which shot right through his heart.
It's then he noticed hidden hairs
Which stood upon the silken stalk.
And 'fore he fell upon the ground
A tear dropped from his swollen eye.
He then awoke upon the ground
From which he first had fallen dazed.
The pain was only throbbing now,
And yet the rose still stood up tall.
The man was angered from all this
But he could still not throw a fist.
He could not hurt a living thing
No matter what the outcome was.
And as he left the enclosed field
To which he did first enter quaint,
The flowers all just stood and laughed
Along with the Asseta rose.

Silent Watchfulness
Within the night a lone blade blows;
The rain falls off its drooping stem.
The storming clouds darken the night
And cover many stars.
It comes up from a sidewalk crack,
Far from nature's loving care.
Unnoticed in the world of man
It simply sits and waits.
It's only contact is the ground;
The only thing not city born.
Yet still contained there is it true
By smog, cement, and man?
All this does not lessen the rain
Which slowly eats the roots away.
The lone blade whistles for some help;
No friend comes to its aid.
Isolated as it is,
No hope of rescue does it know;
What answers can it learn from there...
A silent watchfulness.

And Still They Wait
The heavy snow blew hard and cold
Though seen its end had winter done.
Piled in mounds of white fury
The snow till sun arose.
The branches sank under the weight;
The snow pelted its barky skin.
It stood upright on thick, hard roots,
Yet swayed within the wind.
The new made slush laid on the road;
Its slick surface serenely sat.
Cars passed o'er at speeds surpassing
Safety standards for this mix.
The storm had come, but no one knows
Yet why it had been formed as so.
We say its from some fronts clashing
Which may or mayn't be true.
People allow these storms to be
And still they wait for who knows what.
Their lives pass by like slides flashing
And still they wait and wait...

This Sullen Spot
The mist grows dark as the moon rises high;
Its dank , long arms entwining
What little light that is let in
Dissolves into the setting.
A tree trapped there, straight and tall,
Reaches for air, fresh and pure.
Yet the constricting vapor presses in
And the goal cannot be reached.
A river flows by this sullen spot
From which these vapors flow.
The moonlit fog just wanders 'bout
The country without fear.
And slowly light returns to here
And disperses the fog about.
The river now shines from sun, not moon,
And the tree feels free again.

With Unkind Thanks
Alone in this world a single flame burns,
Lighting the way for many a soul.
The heat it gives off is sufficient enough
For any that wish to wield it.
Through many a time it has led the way
Giving rise to any that follow.
Through the darkest mists it burns bright through
Without regret ot unkind deed.
But the dark dos't last when ere the sun rise
Or the storm blows o'er in exchange for light.
The flame long lives till this point in time
And then it's snuffed with unkind thanks.
It cannot fight back for it is but small;
A tool to those more mighty than it.
Though in response it does not flicker,
It will readily help again.

The night...
Hiding the world with cloak of black
It dominates the sky at times.
It bends the light from out beyond
And dulls the lands around.
It openly does not remind
Of real life things that are behind.
With no emotion it lives through
The acts of others 'round.
Each single sound is played in stride
For nothing cares to listen up.
Again like light the sounds have changed--
The meak become the strong.
In secrecy the world lives on
Though few decide to walk this path.
For brightest thoughts are rarely seen--
Just dark, depressed, and sad.

Before He Flew
A blackness, briskly blown by breeze,
Waved beside some sunlit trees;
The airy shape, made of the light,
Was too formed from the mists of seas.
The sunlight gleamed off brown hair bright,
While maiden stood by sylvan site.
The woods and lands all stood in awe
At the one of sylphan flight.
And from the darkness born of flaw,
The wondrous maiden brown eyes saw.
That pretty girl by meadow's tree
Could not the dark one nearer draw.
A bright light round the maiden free
Could now the shadowed figure see.
But to the darker blackness true
And one way out could now she be.
And on that day, like morning dew,
She sparkled greatly of all hue.
And one last time, with such great ease,
She smiled once more before he flew.

May Ne'er Be Dried
The twilight sky above his head
Did not deter the one which sped
Down to the place which hope had said
Would lead to greater things that night.
The winds were still, the stars were bright,
The moon was hid quite out of sight;
And still the figure dared his spite
To stop the hope which once was dead.
The fabled place was drawing near,
But still the truth was not quite clear
Of why his hope had brought him here;
No breeze returned, the dark had lost.
And so that night the two ne'er crossed;
The soul now ruled, but at great cost,
The mind was certain to be tossed;
The outcome sure would be a tear.
The maiden fair which stirred the heart
Had too now thrown a poisoned dart;
The winds outside his window cryed,
The storm within may ne'er be dried.
And in confusion now he rests...

The scene appeared soome dark, sad dream,

The coldness round did chill the form,
The mind more prone with body 'low.
Thoughts of why and how were made,

With Weary Hate
The dreary drops rolled off limp leaves
To reach the ground from skies above;
The rains soon fell with random weaves
Such that not e'en would fly the dove.
And quickly now the forest black
Became a haven for the one
Who hid under the great green rack
Of leaves which grew when night was done.
And 'neath dark clouds that o'erhead rolled,
And facing winds both damp and chill,
Alone he stood within the cold,
Avenging all which they did kill.
The storm within, which onward waged
Upon the walls which wisdom raised,

Before the drops did dissipate;

But fills the soul with weary hate.

Hope...
The wind revolves around a tree;
The yellow leaves did fly past free
The darkness in the sunlight's sight,
And full of hope he walks quickly.
The wind screams out with chilled bite;
It tries to make the figure fight
Against the hope that holds him fast,
And full of hope he battles spite.
The wind remains until the last;
The moon arrives in starry vast
With clouded night that covers sky,
And full of hope he frees the past.
The wind dies down and passes by;
The clouds in ebon darkness fly
Beside the moon that all can see,
And full of hope he hopes to cry...

That Ne'er Saw Morn
Some needles poured upon the ground
As warm winds pushed and swirled around.
The birds through air sang wondrous sound;
The sun's gold rays fell down through blue.
From soil below and darkness true,
With dirt and leaves quite damp with dew,
A stream ran through with one blue hue
And fed the roots below soft earth.
Below the sky which held bird's mirth
Stood some pines of quite large girth.
The trees, once small, had grown from birth
And soon a ceiling green was born.
Within the woods that ne'er saw morn
A seed through soil like whitened horn
Grew up in place that's dark and worn
And searched for light in land opaque.
The birds looked down upon green lake,
From sun they made their own light fake.
Their heated arms spread out to take
All of the rays made far away.
From skys above alone one ray
Did shine on seedling, though it lay
Below large trees in blackened bay;
It glistened like a beacon bright.
As night approached the woody site
The trees were still the kind earth's blight.
The pines green gleam from far off height
Was all that reached into the gloom.
The oak, not long since it did bloom,
Was now again in ebon tomb.
Within the dark that seems seeds doom

It Gazed at Trees
They surely hate cause it does shun
And anger cries out to the world.
But not a one can understand
For still on mis'ry do they feed.
The wall was built and measures worked;
It tried to teach but stoic stood.
The soul cannot withstand the blows.
The waters rise and take on form.
The sun still shone in skies soon sad;
It gazed at trees through trickeling tears.

Now Unsaid
Still as steel it sat in vale;
Not e'en the wind would stir this lake.
Lighting up the sky for all
The sun still shone as if daybreak.
Falling free it fell in blue
And mixed with waters smooth as silk.
Ripples made moved from that spot;
The first would flow and then its ilk.
From one side and back again
The hills and mounds did slowly cease.
Then some more did 'pear near first;
The pond not yet returned to peace.
First hit next and now chaos;
Soon all the lake was disturbed.
Moving from the shores it walked;
They fell and hit but now unsaid.

Fill the Vast
The snow now falls in gentle form;
The Northern wind helped bring the storm
Which slowly falls from cold to warm,
And once again this day has dawned.
Emotions flow within the soul.
They rise up fast and quench the coal
Which tried to hold to its own goal;
It tried to save the battered wall.
The visions come more frequently.
The thoughts of failure are quite free,
And all the leaves fall from the tree,
The tree uprooted near the wall.
The darkness slowly claims the sky;
The clouds still snow as if to cry.
The coal now tries to stop, to die,
Yet still it lives, this day that dawned.
Walking alone the snow blows past;
Behind him now it settles fast.
This day will not be the last.
Till then, the snow must fill the vast...

Frozen Fell the Water
The winter's snows did slowly melt
To free the grass for spring's embrace.
The trees soon thawed from frost and ice;
Some water dropped upon earth's face.
Atop the mountains did it start,
A stream lit up by light of sun.
The grass turned back to former green;
New leaves did sprout, ne'er be undone.
On banking close a water drop
Did touch a stone, still rough from birth.
The sullen gray it always wore
Soon blacker than the darkest earth.
It sat upon a small incline,
Held up by root protruding soil.
The stream pulled up beside hill close;
The rocks within made waters boil.
But soon the seasons passed quite quick
And still the stone sat side the tree.
The stream had dried in summer's heat,
The water vapors in air free.
A small wind blew the leaves about,
Not ne'er enough to move the stone.
The gray grew light within sun's sight;
It sat within the dead leaves 'lone.
The singing stopped as winter neared
And frozen fell the water now.
It circled trees in search of land,
The snow which could not set on bough.
It made the stone look black again
When 'pared with white of winter's frost.
It too was landed on by ice;
Yet glad it was to 'gain be lost.

And Spring Is Here
The dusty snow upon the ground
Blows about without a sound.
From the earth and to the sky,
The grass grows up from muddied mound.
And spring is here, you hear them say,
And winter's gone, now you'll see.
And to the winds that wave up high,
He prays that soon they will stop by.
He prays the dark will leave his soul,
He hopes that hope will make him cry.
And spring is here, and now you'll pay.
And winter's gone, so should you flee.
And all around the darkened coal
The fires burn within the hole.
The lives around him are not mad,
All of them have reached their goal.
And spring is here, so shall it stay.
And winter's gone, no longer free.
And all that ends for them is glad,
They still luck out in this grand fad.
Upon this shadow I am bound,
Around this shadow makes him sad.
And spring is here, and let him pray.
And winter's gone, so let it be.

For Those Within
There is no hope for those within
That lone sit cold and dark waitin'
For light of sun to crack the wall
And set love free from frozen hall.
To ward off ice it was built strong;
Yet still was heard the siren's song.
The tree which strengthened stood ablaze
And silver leaves turned blackened maze.
The glow from burning tree stood out
So that e'en saw the furthest scout.
The snowy hold was still quite bleak
And ne'er was seen a ray through leak.
The silent moon and woody vale
Was all that eased the icy hail
That often hit the frozen fort;
Nature's beauty does not distort...

The Heart-felt Pain
The water's heart lay deep and cold
While sun's last rays began to fold
Around the lake and clouds up high,
And vivid colors crossed sky bold.
The purples ringed the sun like dye;
The clouds of orange seemed to cry
Around the blues that fill the rest
Of the space within the sky.
The waters met the colored guest
And mirrored all the sky should lest
The viewer fail to see the sun,
The sun which now was at its best.
Yet still there was a lacking fun
Which now the heart-felt pain begun.
The shadowed beach should never hold
Alone one soul which ne'er will run.

As Equals All
I
All this time my heart has yearned
For more than what the mind has learned.
Body not more than just a shell,
The three ne'er rose as one, but fell.
And now the Dark does understand...
II
The forest reaches out to me,
All the woods from weed to tree;
And through my soul I sense the need--
Embrace the one that plants loves seed.
Instead the soul screams out in pain;
The search again ends up in vain.
The thorn does pierce and blood now seaps
Downside the heart which warmly weaps.
The heart is placed on walled island.
III
His thoughts race cross the the wind-swept lake
To raise up walls for one soul's sake.
The land within soaks up the rage,
The land made from his mind and age.
And so his world grows dark and cold,
Although the soul remains as bold.
The mind controls the outer form;
It's been awhile since mind was warm.
The mind has brought eternal night.
IV
The world on which the war had met
Now watches sun that just now set.
It feels the wind, now cold on skin,
And smells the night, its vapors thin.
His dark brown eyes search the air
In hopes he finds that maiden fair;
The one the Dark hopes breaks the wall
So that his tears can stop their fall.
The body fails to stop the fight.
V
A thought allows a crack to shape.
The soul is free from cold mind's cape.
The war-torn land sees dawn arise;
As equals all they shed their lies.
The Dark soon hopes to stop the tear.
Together now they stop the fear...
And once again he looks for love.

Begin to Fly
The moon arose into the night
As oceans splashed within their sight,
The two walked 'cross the shifting sands
While stars above lit up the lands.
And as they held each other close,
Her skin as soft as satin rose,
He looked ahead into the sky,
And felt his heart begin to fly.
The waves swung out to smooth the beach,
The steps in time now past his reach.
And as the sea receded true,
He knew his luck in past was through.
And that is what the moon did show,
While he looked into moonbeams glow.
He hoped they'd dry his tears of woe.

Love
Love is like the universe to me...
It's great and vast but ne'er alone;
It's filled with wonders still unknown.
The stars that shine within blackness
Are each a show of love's success.
Love is like the universe you see.
It's black and cold and makes me cry;
It leaves my heart alone to die.
And ev'ry time I look up high
I see those stars that make me sigh.
I let the spite build up the wall
So that ne'er tears again should fall.
And all the stars say wait and see;
That love will soon come down to me.
Have not I waited long enough for love?
My heart knows only pain from black above.
The astronaut without his suit would die.
And without my bitterness so would I...

The Tortured Man
Destruction rains from heavens high
As love again dost pass me by.
And every time I see the moon
The pain inside returns too soon.
My blackened heart again turns cold
As every time my soul grows bold.
Do not search they say to me;
Just let love come and you will see.
The tortured man just wants to stop the tear;
Life's wretched hope remains to banish fear...

Out of the Fire's Ash
I
The storm had raged in ebon night,
It's rolling mass soon lost from sight;
And all their hopes lay in the flight
Of two lost souls ready to fight.
They flew through sunless sky until
The lightning struck with wicked will
They knew that soon they'd see the source
Which made the storm such fearsome force.
And now the storm could see the hope
With which the two through life did cope.
It shot a bolt which cut the dark;
The storm had almost hit its mark.
She held him close with heavy heart,
The one that blocked the bolt in part.
And slowly now she glided down
To set him on green earthen gown.
II
A single tear fell from her eye
And fell upon this wounded guy.
He said to her, "My love, don't cry;
With you right here I will not die."
A fleeting smile did cross her face
Before the lightning struck its place.
The fire burned with bloody flame
And all that Angel felt was shame.
But soon the fire rose in size,
A figure 'peared in Shade's dark guise;
He walked out of the fire's ash
And quickly to his love did dash.
He grabbed her by the hand and flew
Up towards the storm of grayish hue.
With love now free from prison bleak,
The storm was soon just one cloud meak.
III
And so they glided home quite free
Within the skies of blue that see
The sun that fin'lly rose was key
To saving both the land and tree.
And now the sun I hope will be
A symbol of both you and me.

My Midnight Wish
And as I look outside tonight,
I see the moon above quite bright.
And once again I'm dieing, stars;
I hope that love will kill death's wight..
And this is my wish to you my night!
To stop the tears and give me sight...
To love me now as I so badly need.

That Loved Him Much
The midnight air was crisp and clear;
The shadows leaped without a fear
For now the sun had left the sky;
The moon and stars were now up high.
And as their glow lit up the land,
A figure low a tree did stand.
He looked towards an open vale,
He started forward 'pon that trail.
Quite soon he stepped into that field
And kept on walking without yield
Until the center he had reached,
Until the center he had breached.
It started out as just a breeze,
Creeping slowly out of the trees.
The Shade just stood and welcomed more,
Knowing to soon his soul would soar.
The Sylphs did try to help his heart
And reached out hands to take the dart
That pierced his soul and formed the cause
To build the wall which made him pause.
Yet all he felt was chilled touch
From all of them that loved him much.
He hugged it back and forced a tear
Before he left all of those dear.

The Journey Home
The journey home, back down the road,
Between the autumn trees,
Revived the mind to rethink through
The icy winter freeze;
Of why his life had seemed to stop
Although he had a goal.
Of why his heart had grown too cold,
Alone within the soul.
He stood within the gentle breeze
And looked at all around.
Some trees were full ablaze in red,
To some gold leaves were bound.
The sun within a sky of blue,
Not one cloud blocked its path,
Did sparkle sadly, soaring high;
The shadow feared its wrath.
Yet soon he came to realize
He would surely die.
His heart was slowly barred from life,
So that it would not cry.
But that is all it does today,
Within its darkened hold.
With losing care it slowly shuns;
It may not 'gain grow bold.
And even if it did get free,
To once again see life,
It would not dare destroy the cage
Which tries to shield its strife.
For though they care a lot for him,
The one that's loved by dark,
They cannot know the pain, the fear,
They only see the bark.
The journey home, back up the road,
Among the autumn wood,
Revived the mind to rethink through
Of where it could have stood.
Of why his life seemed out of reach,
Although he knew they cared.
Of why his heart did not just die,
E'en though it has been dared.

His Vow
And now the moon has come to shine
Within the starry vast.
The air is cool, the sky is dark,
He wants this night to last.
He holds her close in loved embrace,
The music dancing on;
He shares his love beyond the night,
Hoping she ne'er be gone.
And as he thinks of what has passed
To get to where he's now,
He sees his love within his arms;
A tear serves as his vow.
And as it falls so gently down,
This dewdrop from the night,
She softly kisses it away;
She surely is my light.

Always There
The gentle winds, with whispering sound,
Portray the love he feels he's found.
In colors crisp from setting sun,
He finally thinks he may have won.
So as the night does slowly creep,
Over trees and mountains steep,
And as the moon comes out to play,
Truly starting this fine day,
He steps outside into the dark;
He steps out into starry park.
The golden moon lit up his love,
As soon she walked 'low skies above.
Into his greeting arms she came;
Within his soul she stirs the flame
Which was walled up for six long years;
Alone she chased away his fears.
Tonight they hold each other close,
To never leave, to hold that pose.
He looks at her with joyous eyes,
In hers he sees the moon arise.
He kisses her in dark silence,
Closing his eyes to better sense
All of the love they both now share;
To show her now that he does care.
To tell her now he's always there...

More Free to Fall
Above my world so dark and drear,
Beyond my thoughts so full of fear,
I hope each day with many tears
That someone up there hears.
The sun shines more each passing day;
The clouds in suit turn skies more gray.
It always seems so very hard,
Too much without a guard.
Alone in world that tests my faith,
Within the dark much like a wraith,
I crumble more my stoic wall.
My soul more free to fall...
I pray within, with all my heart,
That we will never be apart;
That something good befalls me now.
My love will be my vow.
Eternally ... to my love, Kristen.

My Heart Beats On
My heart beats on within my chest
As deep inside I fight my best
To crush the fear that makes me sad;
To fin'ly feel what I've ne'er had.
Why must it be so very hard?
I'm always forced to have a guard
Which blocks out all the pain within.
Allowing love to never win.
At least it never had til now.
And yet the war is still not done;
I feel at times I am but one.
At times I think I cannot feel.
It seems as though I'll never heal.
And then I hear her promised vow.
With hardened heart and hurried pace
I hope too soon to see her face.
To share with her what she has felt,
Why everyone but I did melt...
